Akari 10A
by Vitra
Designer: Isamu Noguchi
Designed by Isamu Noguchi, Akari 10A is part of a series of handmade lamps made out of traditional washi paper by Japanese artisans. "The hardness of electricity is thus transformed through the magic of paper into the light of our origin: the sun." (Noguchi). Some versions of the Akari family have parts painted on top of the washi paper, while others have bamboo ends. The structure is made of bamboo and steel wire, and the supports are made of painted steel wire. The light source is 4W LED. Also available among the different designs are floor, table, or ceiling versions. The price refers to the Akari 10A model.
