Bell Side Table

Sebastian Herkner's Bell Table overturns our perceptual habits, using the lightness and fragility of glass as the basis for a metal top that seems to float above it. Hand-blown (so each table is different from the previous one; there may be features such as irregularity in the thickness of the glass, small bubbles or bulges) in the traditional way using a wooden mold, the transparent stained glass base asserts a sculptural presence in the space, contrasting intriguingly with the solid brass frame on top and forming with it a harmonious unity that resembles the elegant curved outline of a bell. The coffee table can be a chosen from different colors of both the glass base and the top.
