LC6
by Cassina
Designer: Le Corbusier Charlotte Pierrand & Pierre Jeanneret
The basic idea behind the LC6 table, presented in 1929 at the Salon D'Automne, lies in the distinction between the supporting element and the carried element, that is, between the base and the top. The autonomy of the two parts is evidenced by four intermediate supports that act both as level adjusters and as spacers between the consistency of the support and the slender lines of the top. Notably, the plinth was designed in 1928 with reference to the ovoid profiles used in the aircraft industry to separate the wings of biplanes. The current model features a steel base painted in the colors of Le Corbusier's palette, with a top available in crystal, molded glass, wood, or the fine finishes of white Carrara marble and black Marquiña marble. Price refers to Marquiña marble finish.
